It appears the cows will start clucking with the chickens sometime in mid-January.

The top-secret duo of A&W Rootbeer and Kentucky Fried Chicken that has eluded people for more than a year is under construction and by all accounts should be open in mid January.

Michal Connors with the Windsor Chamber of Commerce said she spoke to the construction crew at the site a while back and they confirmed the unmistakable rooftops were that of a KFC and A&W Rootbeer -- although no one with the companies want to talk. Phone calls to media lines at KFC and A&W were not returned.

According to Connors, the crew said the stores are usually

ready to open 80 to 90 days from the time they break ground. The Windsor Planning department issued a building permit for the business on Oct. 10, making a mid-January opening possible under that timeline.

The restaurant is registered to Harmon Management out of Los Altos, namesake of Pete Harmon the founder of KFC.

Phone calls to Harmon Management were redirected back to the media lines at KFC and A&W.

Meanwhile, Hunan Taste, 1215 main St., Unit D, is continuing to inch closer to its hopeful relocation-opening date of March.

The restaurant, which is owned and operated by Frank and Joann Chu will encompass 5,100 square feet of the 8,000 square foot building located west of King Soopers at 1580 Main St. The remaining part of the building will be leased out, Joann Chu said.

Chu said all hopes are still to be open in March.

"We just hope the weather doesn't slow us down," she said.

Chu, who prides herself on low sodium, low fat cooking, also said she plans to work with a nutritionist to update the nutrition content on the menus when the restaurant gets underway in its new location.

The restaurant has been in its current location for five years.
